FURNISHING/What You Don't Need

shutterstock_518879164.jpg

Given the wide array of cute items sold to fill a new baby's room, you'd think you would need a lot. You don't. A place to sit, best if it can rock, to soothe and nurse, a sturdy crib, storage for clothes, toys, and books, and a place to change diapers (which can be nearly any surface, provided you can reach wipes and diapers).

What you don't need:

  • Wall-to-wall carpeting
  • A separate changing table
  • Trinkets and decorative toys
  • Quilts and bumpers in the crib
